“Child Protection Units”- a new reality for children in Albania
Tirane, 12 December 2007. Save the Children in Albania and TACT organized the National Conference on Child Protection in Tirana.
The Minister of Labour, Social Affairs and Equal Chances, Save the Children Programme Director, Terre des hommes Head of Mission, USAID, UNICEF representative, head of municipalities, child protection experts and social workers gathered to discuss the provision and expansion of protection services for children across Albania.

Teacher Training program- a chance for development and change
Child-Centered Teaching Methodology (CCTM) and Inclusive Education (IE) were the main topics in the teachers’ training program. This year, the capacity building program for teachers throughout Albania has been conducted during October and November 2007. It emphasized skills building for teachers to develop their learning and enhance the use of child-centered teaching techniques and inclusive approaches with children in their classes.

Comparative research on Albanian legislation and practices and UNCRC
We’re excited to announce that the first ever comparative study about Albanian Legislation & Practices and UNCRC has been completed and was launched on October 30, 2007. This research was supported by SCiA, in the framework of its Institutional Strengthening project with the Office of People’s Advocate (OPA), and conducted by the Centre of Integrated Legal Practices and Services (CILPS).

Children-catalysts for change
Greater participation and advocacy capacity of the "Voice 16+", Child-Led Group supported by SCiA, persuaded the Albanian Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports, to take children’s views seriously and embody them in the National Strategy for Youth and Action Plan. This strategy, launched by the end of April 2007, is the first national policy document for youth and thanks to children’s and youngsters views it adopts a more child’s rights perspective approach.
